The bed is able to machine parts that are 65 feet long, 19 feet wide and 10 feet tall! Machines of this type, with a ten foot Z-axis travel, are extremely rare and expensive to build. The 0 Z-axis position is measured from approximately 16 inches from the shop floor providing ample room for a carriage or frame under the part being machined. The total height of the machine is 25’- 5”.

The replacement cost for a machine of this size is estimated to be approximately $700,000 based upon the current cost of steel, (which is in the process of doubling). The machine was operating until it was dismantled in January of 2008.

The machine has fairly new “Servo Dynamics” X-axis motors that are much better than the factory
supplied “Glennteks”. The cost of this upgrade was $10,000. It also has an upgraded B&C-axis head that is much more robust than the factory head. This upgrade cost $30,000.

The machine is currently in our plant in South Carolina and has been disassembled for shipping purposes.
